LANGDON LATEST WELLINGTON DUKE TO COMMIT TO CLARKSON
Jared Langdon of the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Wellington Dukes (photo credit - Devin Doucette | OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the NCAA Division I Clarkson University Golden Knights in Potsdam, NY beginning with the 2024-25 season.
Langdon, who will turn 16 Nov. 16, joined the Dukes this off-season from the Quinte Red Devils AAA program. Following his U16 season, the 6-foot, 185-pound forward was selected in the fourth round, 74th overall, by the Owen Sound Attack in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection draft.
The Newfoundland native who lives in Belleville chose to keep his NCAA options open and joined the Dukes after a successful camp with the Attack.
Even as one of the youngest players in the entire OJHL, Langdon made an immediate impact with the Dukes. At the OJHL Governors’ Showcase, Langdon scored his first junior goal against the Caledon Admirals, which turned out to be the game winner in a 7-1 Dukes’ victory. He has four points in 16 OJHL games this season.
Dukes GM/Head Coach Derek Smith said Langdon's hard work on and off the ice were a big reason he was able to transition to junior hockey.
"The sky is the limit with Jared,” the former NHLer said. “His work ethic on and off the ice is second to none. He really has a win the day mentality as he looks to improve each and every day.”
"I am thankful for the opportunity to attend Clarkson University,” Langdon said on the Dukes’ website. “It is a highly respected school and has an incredible hockey program".
Langdon will follow in the footsteps of several Dukes alumni who played for Clarkson, including Paul Karpowich, David Pratt, Joe Zarbo and Simon Bessette.
Congratulations to Jared and best of luck in the OJHL and NCAA!
The OJHL, the largest Jr. A hockey league in Canada, has had more than 90 NCAA, U SPORTS, CHL and professional commitments in 2021-22 – including more than 25 NCAA Division I scholarships.
